*Captured the World Decathlon championship in Cleveland - 1940

*Qualified for Olympics but the games were cancelled because of WWII

*Competing for the Detroit Police Department, he won the National AAU Decathlon championship - 1942 & 1943

*Worked for the Detroit Police Department for 25 years, winning eight meritorious service citations
